HSS 2008 November Seminars

Fall brings shortening days, chilly evenings and the beginning of the holiday season. Our lunchtime seminars offer you the opportunity to take a pause and do something wonderful for yourself! All HSS seminars listed take place at 1145 Market Street, 2nd Floor.

Noon Qi Gong: Wuji Gong
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese moving practice. Qi (or Chi) means vital life energy, or breath, and gong means practice. In this noon session, we are beginning to study the wuji gong form, a series of movements designed to build energy and encourage awareness of the energy in your body and in nature.
If you are exploring Qi Gong for the first time, it is ideal to attend our of the 1pm sessions, where the teacher focuses on the basics of feeling the chi energy. However, all are welcome to join in this mixed level noon class. Come to whichever session you can, and you'll leave feeling revitalized and refreshed. Please wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes.

Introduction to Belly Dancing
Native to North Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, belly dancing is based on one of the oldest social dances in world history. The graceful hip drops, rolls, and pivots of this dance form utilize muscle groups in the abdomen, pelvis, trunk, spine, arms and neck, working with the body instead of against it. Belly dancing can improve grace, balance, muscle tone and posture. Plus it's fun! This beginners class provides a gentle, low-impact workout - no experience necessary! Wear comfortable clothing.
