Vendor Report Cards give our active and retiree members a voice about their healthcare and other benefits. We select members from a list of volunteers to be a part of a team which evaluates and comments on HSS plan vendors' performance. Working with the other participants, including HSS finance and operations management, an HSS Board member and a vendor representative, the vendor report card teams rates and comments on the quality and value of vendor performance. Some of the areas rated include:

  • - quality of the vendor's written materials
  • - vendor website
  • - member access to healthcare services
  • - provider quality
  • - customer service

The Vendor Report Card process is effective. Some of the issues identified in the Vendor Report Card process have resulted in the following improvements:

  • - expansion of provider network to offer members more choices and flexibility
  • - redesign of a benefit brochure for clarity and accuracy about the coverage and reimbursement policy
  • - revision of plan coverage to increase the eyeglass frame benefit
  • - development of a customized vendor website geared toward our members' needs
